Description
Cavallotto is known for delivering textbook expressions of firm, classic-style Barolo. Alfio, Giuseppe, and Laura comprise the fifth generation of Cavallottos farming the family vineyards in Castiglione Falletto. The Cavallottos own the Bricco Boschis cru in its entirety and also produce wine from the Vignolo cru.
Bricco Boschis spans 23 hectares, approximately half of which are comprised of Nebbiolo vines, with the remaining acreage planted to Dolcetto, Barbera, Freisa, Grignolino, Chardonnay, and Pinot Nero. In 1961, the Cavallottos divided the Bricco Boschis estate into three sub-crus: San Giuseppe, Colle Sudovest, and Punta Marcello.
These textbook expressions of Barolo are created with traditional maturation in large Slavonian oak botti giving richly structured wines place emphasis on elegance and longevity. The estate's selection from the finest vineyard within the Bricco Boschis cru is San Giuseppe, the epitome of Castiglione Falletto. It's a powerful, majestic wine of absolute authority whose sweetness comes with time.
