In 2007, Christmann achieved something extraordinary. The 2007 Christmann Königsbacher Idig Riesling "Grosses Gewächs" is loaded with stone and tree fruit, lemon peel, tarragon and floral aromas with a focused core of salty, limestone minerality. Drink this dry and powerful Riesling with pan-seared veal chops, whole roasted red snapper with herbs, or a ragout of new potatoes, spring onions, and artichokes.

A near alleinbesitz (monopole) of Weingut A. Christmann, the Grosses Gewächs Königsbacher Idig is a south-facing hillside of limestone and loess soils planted to Riesling and Pinot Noir. Steffen Christmann organically farms his majority holding.
