"This is an elegant Gevrey with almost equally high-toned wild red and blue berry fruit aromas laced with the classic game and earth notes that continue onto the detailed, pure, vibrant and sleekly muscled flavors that are taut and balanced and the overall impression here is one of unusual refinement for the cru, particularly on the focused and linear finish. While not as elegant, there is a good deal more depth here. (Drink starting 2015)"

Gifted Rugby player Bruno Clavelier took over from his maternal grandfather Joseph Brosson, in the late 1980s. In the cellar there is not much new oak used (up to 25% for the premier crus).

Les Corbeaux, 'the crows', lies below Fonteny, between grand cru Mazis-Chambertin and the village itself. In the middle ages it was a cemetery. These are fine, attractive wines, though without the depth of flavor of Mazis or even Fonteny.
