Description

Savoie's famously crisp dry white wines are the perfect apértif and are essential for cheese fondues and raclettes of the region. Mondeuse Noire completes the Savoyard table. Mondeuse is a deliciously peppery, dark-scented wine filled with flavors of black plums and bitter wild cherries. It is the perfect wine for the Savoie's "diot" and "poumoniers" sausages and rich meat preparations which are so satisfying in the cold winter months.

Michel Quénard (the surname Quénard is as common as Jones in the Savoie) is the best-known Quénard growing grapes in Chignin. His reputation is now firmly established as one of Savoie's finest growers.

Kermit Lynch, Michel's American importer, has written: "[Michel Quénard's] cuvées go beyond the simple 'eclectic' that categorizes wines from the region; whether they are quaffed or savored, they are all unique revelations that reflect the complexity of their terroir and the fine artistry of this master vigneron."

wonderful red wine from savoie March 4, 2012

Another great find in red wines off the beaten path in France.  It has delicate yet noticeable herbaceous aromas followed by fig and prune notes on the palate.  Great wine for sipping on a chilly SF evening or with a hearty meal.
