This village-level Vosne-Romanée bottling is made in part from young vines of Echézeaux and is a step above conventional village Vosne-Romanée. Upon initial pour, the wine shows ripe and sweet black cherries and classic Vosne perfume of incense, brown spices and purple flowers. Pair with roasted cornish game hen, wild mushroom risotto or grilled saucisse.

Bernard Gros loves big fruity wines and 2009 couldn't have been more generous to him. Along with 1999 and 2005, these are his favorite vintages. The 2009s are substantial wines full of ripe fruit, mouth filling and delicious, aged in 100% new wood.

Bernard is meticulous about clean cellars and wine making and concerned that older barrels might impart impurities so uses only new barrels for all his wines from village level, and above appellations. The huge fruit comfortably supports the oak. The impression is one of big fruity mouth filling ripe wine.
