"From the climats of Echézeaux du Dessus and Les Treux and 75% new oak. A moderately toasty nose displays plenty of both natural and wood spice together with very ripe red cherry and cassis aromas that merge into dense, seductively textured and opulent middle weight flavors that possess a good amount of tannin-buffering sap and fine length. The wood is very strong, indeed to the point where the finish is mildly bitter. My rating offers the benefit of the doubt as historically this wine has been quite good.

Mongeard noted that he had pulled all samples from new barrels, which of course in one sense allows for an apples to apples comparison between wines but it also renders it more difficult to have any precise idea as to how much new wood will be in the final blend."
