Description
The understated and reserved Paul Pernot is now semi-retired and the heavy lifting at this domaine is done by his three sons: Paul, Michel, and Jean Marc. Their holdings cover about 20 hectares in the village of Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, with some prime Premier Cru and Grand Cru plots spread throughout.
The Pernots own the largest piece of Puligny-Montrachet Folatières 1er Cru and they issue a superb example of that wine, as well as an excellent Clos de la Garenne 1er Cru and a top-notch Bâtard-Montrachet.
The Pernot wines are known to be excellent values across the range. Pernot wines are more about balance and purity and less about blockbuster power, and are excellent at the table. The 2009 Paul Pernot Bourgogne Blanc is a wine to be paired with sautéed crustaceans. It can also be served alongside a humble meal of crusty baguette, Parisian ham, and Gruyère cheese.
