Description

Philippe Alliet is often discussed in the same breath as Bernard Baudry, not only in that they are two of the very best viticulteurs in the appellation in question, but also as both are located in Cravant-les-Coteaux to the east of Chinon.

L'Huisserie is the latest addition to the domaine's holdings. This wine comes from a plot of land only recently acquired. The vines were planted in 2000 and the soils are clay and flint. After fermentation the wine sees between one and two years in large 600 liter oak barrels, including new, one and two year-old casks.

The fruit here is quite quite grippy and deliciously ripe. Although more primary than the other cuvées, but after opening up it shows good linear definition including the cool, fresh minerality that one fines in great Loire reds. An impressive wine from one of the elite growers in Chinon.
