The Pignier siblings (Jean-Etienne, Antoine, and Marie-Florence) run their family's Domaine Pignier in the village of Montaigu located 40 km south of Arbois in the Jura region of France. They are guardians of an estate began by Carthusian monks in 1794 and continue to utilize the 13th-century cellar of the monastery that once stood in its place. 

The Pigniers are the only grape growers in the village, which is an advantage in their pursuit for biodynamic certification by both Demeter and Ecocert. A full range of wine is produced in both sous voile and ouillé styles. All wines are hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and bottled without filtration. 

Pignier's top red wine comes from a lieu-dit named "The Gauthières" on a soil of Triassic marl. This was aged 12 months in demi-muid barrels and shows fine and delicate aromas of red fruit and spice. Drink with smoked pork, beef, game, and cheeses.
